Long Phi Tran
Long Phi Tran (Trần Phi Long) (b. 1989) is a Vietnamese conceptual photographer and ink painter based in Ho Chi Minh City. Working across photography and monochrome ink, he develops a distinctive visual language rooted in minimalism, symbolism, and disciplined composition. His practice centers on transforming ordinary objects and subtle gestures into layered metaphors that explore identity, power, fragility, silence, and the human condition.
As a conceptual photographer, Long is known for his refined black-and-white works that balance clarity with ambiguity, inviting viewers into quiet yet thought-provoking spaces. In parallel, his ink paintings reflect a deep sensitivity to light, void, and movement, where negative space becomes as meaningful as form. Together, these two mediums allow him to bridge contemporary visual thinking with the contemplative spirit of traditional ink expression.
His work has received international recognition. In 2025, he was awarded an Honorable Mention in the Conceptual category at the Monochrome Photography Awards. In January 2026, his artwork was selected as the cover of Heart Rhythm Journal, published by Elsevier. He has had the opportunity to share his artistic vision through global interviews and features (Spain, USA, The Netherlands, Georgia, Australia, etc.), as well as a digital showcase in New York's Times Square and several awards / honors from prestigious international juried art competitions and exhibitions (USA, Georgia, Canada, etc.).
Long’s works have also been highlighted by Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and the Vietnam UNESCO Federation Magazine in 2026, and were selected for inclusion in Ho Chi Minh City university-level final examinations in 2025 — reflecting both their artistic merit and conceptual depth.
Through photography and ink, Long Phi Tran continues to pursue a practice defined by restraint, precision, and poetic intensity — creating images that speak softly, yet resonate deeply.
